Day 6 - Movenpick

Wednesday, October 12  Movenpick

After all that rain last night, this morning looks like it's going to be a beautiful day...still overcast but some glimpses of clearing.

Craig took morning off, so we leisurely got ready this morning. At 10:15 we walked over to the Pacifica Restaurant for a buffet breakfast. What a beautiful spread! Imagine, lime green guava juice and pink lychee juice...both were delicious! There was fish jook and shrimp Thai noodles, and some Thai dim sum, and that was only some of the things I ate. I also ate some bacon and eggs. There was a whole table of pastries, and off on the veranda, Craig said they were cooking omelets and pancakes. Oh, and the array of fruit was plentiful  Some fruits were new to me, such as the dragon fruit, which is beautiful pink on the outside and white flesh with little black seeds on the inside. I'll have to try it again to decide if I really like it. The papayas are not as sweet as the ones in Hawaii. Was I so ravenous that I kept going back for more? Good thing they stopped serving at 10:30 and started clearing the buffet...so I could only go back one more time!
orange, pink, and green juice
Craig took us on a tour of Movenpick, Registration, met his staff and saw his offices, and picked up some tour brochures.  There are 4 beautiful pools here and we are staying right above the gym.  There is so much to see and do here.  Walked across to the beach and then Ray and I walked around the stalls and shops around the hotel.  This was going to a low key day for us...maybe the start of several...

It feels like we're in Hawaii until you get out on the streets.  Some of scents are similar since there are so many plumeria trees here, but some of the scents are not always pleasant, especially when walking down the alleys. The humidity is really high and when the sun is out we get sapped really quickly. However, there has been a breeze today so it's not been too bad. Today the weather was a mixture of sun, clouds, rain and more sun.

at el Gaucho, even though you can't see any food
Craig had a dinner meeting at a Brazilian restaurant, El Gaucho (a part of the Movenpick resort), so Ray and I had our own romantic dinner there, too. The meats were perfectly prepared and delicious. Ray's favorite was the sirloin, but they were all good! The meats he enjoyed were chicken, 3 different cuts of beef, lamb, pork, sausage and ended up with a grilled whole pineapple with a brown sugar and cinnamon glaze. The perfect end to the meal. I had mahimahi, which I didn't care for (I must have mistakenly thought I was in Hawaii). Our dinner lasted about 2 hours, but we couldn't leave without dessert... so we shared mango with sticky rice and Movenpick vanilla ice cream, which was delicious (and cost about $8 per scoop), and a fruit plate that came with Ray's meal. I could really get to like this way of life!
