Day 1...Korea

We've arrived!  Finally!  It was a looonngg flight, about 12.5 hours from SFO to Seoul, but it was made so much easier flying on Korean Air.  The plane actually felt so much more spacious with additional leg room between seats.  There were 4 flight attendants in our section, and they looked so beautiful in their light teal suits, with white blouse and matching scarf (white or teal) around their neck sticking up jauntily in the air. They were just lovely to watch!  Things got even better when they served bibimbap for lunch.  It was delicious!  The amazing thing was that the bathrooms were always fresh and clean and the toilet tissue was always v'd.  Know what I mean?  TV was always available for Free.

Yummy dinner in Incheon
It's 4 pm (Korean time) and we just hit the runway.  By the time we got our bags and through customs it was almost 6 pm.  Found out where to stow our bags and paid $64 for the privilege of stowing 2 bags until Oct. 11th so we wouldn't have to lug them around. Stayed at the Incheon Airport Yong Seong Bridge Hotel, where we stayed in a very comfortable room. It was quite roomy but the bed was as stiff as a board. but we both slept really well. Dinner was at a little restaurant not far from the hotel. It was a fun meal and completely charming, but we did learn that the bulgogee in Korea is very different than what we have in Hawaii, and seems really bland to us.

The next morning: a bus tour of a part of Seoul, just to get a sense of the city: large, constant traffic with rule-defying taxi drivers (but very little horn blowing), very clean, devoid of graffiti and homeless people.

Later ... a 4 hour bus ride to Andong.
